What is an initial consultation like?

Your consultation is an informal, relaxed conversation. We’ll talk about your goals for therapy, I’ll answer your questions, and I’ll share what working together might look like whether online or in person in Arvada, Colorado.

How do I know if I need therapy?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, or just “off,” therapy can help. Healing happens in safe, supportive relationships, and therapy provides space to explore your experiences without judgment. Committing to yourself is a powerful message: you are worth the time, care, and investment it takes to heal.

What types of therapy do you offer in Colorado?

I provide individual therapy for adults anywhere in Colorado through secure online sessions, as well as limited in-person sessions in Arvada, Colorado.

My specialties include EMDR therapy, parts work, and attachment-based therapy to address anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, relationship challenges, and more. Learn more about my therapy approaches here.

Do you offer online therapy in Colorado?

Yes! I offer secure telehealth sessions throughout Colorado. All you need is a device, internet connection, and private space. This makes therapy flexible, accessible, and convenient, no matter where you live in the state.

Do you accept insurance?

Healing Roots Therapy is primarily a private-pay practice, with limited in-network insurance options available. I am currently in-network with Kaiser Permanente.

Please reach out to me directly to confirm whether I accept your specific insurance plan and to discuss availability.

Payment is due at the time of each session and can be made using cash, HSA/FSA cards, or major credit cards.

Do you offer sliding scale?

Yes, I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for clients experiencing financial hardship. Typically these are reserved for those who don’t have the same access to resources due to structural inequality, whether that’s income level or those with marginalized identities. These are currently full, but I’d be happy to add you to the waitlist and discuss options.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Sessions canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice (or no-shows) will be billed at the full session rate. Insurance will not pay for late cancellations or no-shows. This policy is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and held exclusively for you.

Why is therapy so expensive and what does it cover?

Therapy is an important investment in your mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. Your session fee covers not just our time together, but also treatment planning, documentation, supervision, practice expenses, and ongoing training – all to ensure you receive personalized, high-quality care.

What is a Good Faith Estimate (GFE)?

A Good Faith Estimate provides a breakdown of the expected cost of your therapy when paying out of pocket. It helps give you clarity and peace of mind before starting, so there are no surprises. You can learn more about how the Good Faith Estimate works here.

Sessions + Approach

What should I expect during my first therapy session?

In your first session, we’ll talk about what brought you to therapy and your goals for healing. You can share any challenges you’re facing, and I’ll explain how I work and what to expect. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and decide if my approach feels like a good fit.

What can I expect in a typical therapy session?

Each session is tailored to your needs, goals, and where you are in your journey. You’ll have a safe, confidential space to share your thoughts and feelings openly. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and use evidence-based techniques to help you explore challenges and create positive changes. Sessions typically last 50 minutes (one clinical hour) unless we agree on a longer or intensive session. Together, we’ll decide how often to schedule sessions based on what works best for you.

Do you offer longer sessions or EMDR intensives?

Yes! I offer extended sessions of 75 or 90 minutes for deeper work, as well as 2- to 3-hour EMDR intensives to help you make faster progress. Rates vary by session length, and we can discuss what’s best during your consultation. Please note that longer sessions may not be covered by insurance and may require private payment. Learn more about my Rates + Offerings here.

Are you EMDR certified?

Yes. I am an EMDR-certified therapist and use EMDR as a primary approach for helping clients heal from trauma and distressing memories. Learn more about EMDR therapy here.
