GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE
Good Faith Estimates and the No Surprises Act – Effective January 2022
According to the federal No Surprises Act (HR 133, PL 116-260), healthcare providers are obligated to provide clients and patients without insurance or those not using insurance with an estimated bill for medical items and services.
What this means for you as a client at Healing Roots Therapy:
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that outlines the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.
To ensure transparency, your healthcare provider is required to provide the Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your scheduled medical service or item. Additionally, you can proactively request a Good Faith Estimate from your healthcare provider or any other provider you choose before scheduling a medical service.
Important Notes:
Your actual costs may differ depending on the number of sessions you choose and your unique treatment goals.
In the event that you receive a bill that exceeds your Good Faith Estimate by at least $400, you have the right to dispute the bill.
Additional services outside of therapy sessions (such as report writing, consultation with other providers, or extensive correspondence) may incur additional fees. These will always be discussed with you in advance and are typically not covered by insurance.
To safeguard your rights and for reference purposes, it is recommended that you save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
